Cycling Friends
July 3rd, 2025 was the first day of my solo cycle tour for this
year. After packing and getting everything ready at home, I
headed to Royston to begin with a visit with my good friend, Lyle.
Cycling Friends
Friends who cycle rather than drive
With me are always able to comfortably jibe.
There’s an immediate understanding of what it takes
And how a satisfying day riding invariably makes.
Trials, tribulations, and sweat are part of the deal;
As long as we overcome, it all adds to cycling zeal.
The intimate connection we share for Mother Earth
Enhance our friendships; better than gold they’re worth.
A message to say, “I’m on my way, can I stay?”
Is always met with, “Of course, you may!”
Unwavering in this regard is my good friend, Lyle;
Cycling rig and me are greeted with a huge, friendly smile.
Non-competitive Lyle celebrates the success of others
And treats his cycling friends like sisters and brothers.
He proves through his actions all the words he’s using;
For Lyle, loyalties and friendships are not for abusing.
But Lyle learned from experience not to be a fool;
You have but a few chances if you break friendship rule.
Cycling brought us together and respect keeps us aligned.
Riding, paddling, conversation, friendship keep us entwined.
